Following a ₹35 crore cash recovery, the ED detains Sanjeev Lal, the secretary of a Congress leader

Once the Enforcement Directorate recovered cash valued at Rs35.23 crore from Ranchi, they detained Sanjeev Lal, Alamgir Alam’s personal secretary, and his domestic assistant.Sanjeev Lal, the personal secretary of Jharkhand rural development minister Alamgir Alam, and his domestic assistant Jahangir Alam were taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate late on Monday night following the seizure of Rs35.23 crore in cash from a Ranchi home.A 2BHK flat in Ranchi purportedly occupied by Jahangir Alam was raided by the ED on Monday as part of an inquiry into money laundering related to purported anomalies in the state rural development department.

The ED investigators had taken out more than Rs32 crore in cash, in addition to Rs 3 crore from several other locations that the agency had searched. With Rs35.23 crore in total cash recovered.In the meantime, Alamgir Alam has refuted any misconduct on his behalf.On Monday night, ED officers removed steel trunks containing recovered cash from the home. The recovery has to do with the current inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Virendra K. Ram, the chief engineer of the rural development department in Jharkhand.Social media users posted videos and images of agency employees unloading massive sacks of cash from a two-bedroom flat near Gadikhana Chowk.
