Speaking with R Ashwin, Sunil Gavaskar recalled a comment made by Joe Root during India’s series victory over England.Before the fifth Test between India and England, England’s Joe Root succinctly outlined why Ravichandran Ashwin is a walking nightmare for any premier batsman. Senior batsman Joe Root informed former captains Mike Atherton and Nasser Hussain that Ashwin consistently finds a method to get batsmen out rather than trying to wear them down over extended periods of time, ahead of India’s final encounter with England at the scenic Dharamsala.
