Promila Devi Sutharsan Huidrom’s View on Socio Economic Causes – An Exclusive interview with Author Promila Devi Sutharsan Huidrom

Author Promila is a wonderful writer . Her poems have made an impact in the lives of readers in several aspects. Starting from writing poems on several cultural aspects like the Festival of Colours , to motherland and independence she has represented her ideas starkly in several subjects. Poetess Promila Devi is also actively related to social work. Today The International Socio Economic Society has received the golden opportunity to interview her . Let us read her interview.

Q1) When you hear the word “ Social – Work “, what is the first thing that comes to your mind ?

Ans First thing which comes in my mind is helping the helpless in whatever way I can. Helping the needy which gives me immense pleasure as a human and a part of society. This Society gave us everything we are today, we have to give it back in the form of building the culture and building the basis for the needy.

Q2) Since this conflict deserves International Attention , tell us about your views on the Meitei and Kuki Tribe conflict that is ongoing now .

Ans There can be detailed information which can be provided but in short I would say that Manipur cannot be the Poppy Hub of SouthEast Asia. The Meiteis live in the 6% of the total land area in Manipur where they are not even allowed to buy land in the hill area since it is protected for ST/ Scheduled Tribe people of the State. 

 

SoO (Suspension of Operation) agreement allows Kukis insurgents to have weapons and have a stipend of 6000 INR every month. Meiteis from Churachandpur District are totally wiped off. It wonders anybody about their planned activities with the high tech weapons they use. 

 

The Kukis now have totally converted to Christianity since independence and there are a lot of future activities being planned by them. They have been successful in converting a few Hindu Meiteis too.

Even dominating the web world with lies against Meiteis is something which is really alarming. This is done, since more than 20 years of planning or more as the data with the references they Provide, which are mostly incorrect, are made legible, needs time to produce and every action they do are properly planned and directed. There is a lot which can be discussed but in short Manipur is a part of India and free cultivation of Poppy which covers acres and acres of land will destroy the Nation too and not just Manipur. Thousands of people are homeless and live in Relief Camps. Our Team from Meitei Alliance (A Worldwide Meitei Community) has contributed a lot for these helpless people in Relief Camps and Manipur as a whole. 

 

Q3) How important do you feel is the involvement or participation of people in issues like these ?

Ans It is very important, what happened to Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir is happening to Meiteis in Manipur. Let’s prevent it from getting worse than regretting it later. Many Meiteis are now alert and knowing the truth about the planned activities done by the Kukis. 

 

Q4) As you are a poet and you have the power to reach to several people please do pen a quote or poem on a similar topic – “Nationalism /Involvement or Awareness of people “.

Q5) How important do you feel financial independence is to stand towards social causes ?

Ans Financial independence is very important, as we say we can help others when we have enough for ourselves. I always say finance is just a way to resources and as we humans who live in this material world need resources to survive where it can be achieved via Finances as we all know.

Q6) Finally what are your thoughts on Sustainable Development ?

Ans Development is good but to be persistent is more important. Sustaining the development is the key. So any development is well achieved if it is sustainable.
