Unlocking the Mind: An Exclusive Conversation with S Raja Mannar, the Author of ‘Scribbles'”
In the labyrinth of literature, where words are woven into tapestries of thought, S Raja Mannar stands as a beacon of contemplation. With “Scribbles” as his testament, Mannar delves into the intricacies of human existence, drawing from the wells of his own musings and experiences. As a full-time writer, his pen becomes a wand, enchanting readers to wander through the realms of introspection and enlightenment. Today, we have the privilege of delving deeper into the mind behind the ink.
- What inspired you to embark on the journey of full-time writing, and how has this path shaped your perspective on life?
AnsI love words and I also love experimenting with words, so and so throughout my education and specifically in English subject I composed all my answers, I felt alive then and it is no surprise that after education I took the pen in hand that shaped me as I discovered my own originality and thus in this harsh times it became my panacea
2.Your book, “Scribbles,” seems to explore the nuances of human behaviour and thought. Could you share a bit about your process of delving into what you term “people theory”?
Ans In my book “Scribbles” I wrote complex things but in a charming style, it is my first book and it directly and indirectly speaks about people thus, I coined the term “People Theory”. Thus it is nothing but my musings of “why people act the way they do?”, and more so “how do they act in such and such situations?” and finally “how can they be made or channelized to act humane?”
3.You mentioned experiencing the taste of humble pie in life. How have these personal encounters with humility influenced your writing style and the themes you choose to explore?
Ans My experiences in life shaped me into someone unique and particularly that humble pie changed my outlook on things, I believe I can see, perceive and understand things better with more and more time that stumbling block in the equation became a powerful weapon that was gifted only to me.
4.Many writers draw inspiration from their hobbies. How do your musings and the road less travelled factor into your storytelling and character development?
AnsI always question things that happen whether it is gauging a blockbuster movie or the silence of my mother and to behavior of people and I do dissect all into the categories of why, how and when therefore I muse. I also believe certain facts are dynamic in character and it needs to be observed. I have some strong beliefs, theories and thesis that many oppose but I travel with it though it is a lone journey I am painting my own scenery. Thus “What is life if we can’t choose colours?”
5.”Scribbles” appears to encourage readers to think deeply and transcend conventional boundaries. Can you elaborate on the message you aim to convey through your writing?
Ans“Scribbles” is a mixed bag where I wrote on various topics but one common thing in each and every piece is it provokes the reader to think deeply, now with experience I do know that only one in a hundred will take home the message but I write believing that when there is a crisis my audiences will become warriors not with knife or guns but by wielding intellect.
6.As an intern at BB News, I’m intrigued by your perspective on the intersection of literature and journalism. How do you see the role of storytelling in conveying truths and shaping societal discourse?
Ans People take up journalism so that they can contribute to the world, after all a pen is mightier than a sword, a pen has potential more than anything else but the bearer has a responsibility on how he uses it. Now stories are something of a fancy even though some may say it is based on real events but an element of hype will be there, arguably both won’t intersect for journalism is telling the truth and the other thing is imagination. They say People are strange beings we think fine print will influence them but some even skip the big traffic signals thus the entire moral stories conveying truth and those shaping societal discourse seem like it is thrown out of the window, even though a few who agree and try to implement they will be named an idiot but however, there will be a change to be exact a momentum shift when all turn to goodness then all the dormant moral stories will become a basement for a new future. Thus it is not a waste in trying to form Utopia
In these days of hype and faulty faces, I found Raja Mannar’s interview something down to earth and I believe it came from the heart.
This really means a lot. Thankyou for all the support. He is really a genuine author
