Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Joins ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign in Keonjhar

In a move to further the cause of environmental conservation, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took part in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on Sunday. The event, held at Raikala village in Keonjhar district, saw the Chief Minister planting a sapling as part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting tree plantation.

Speaking at the occasion, CM Majhi emphasized the significance of community involvement in protecting the environment, calling upon citizens to actively participate in the campaign. “Let us all, from children to adults, plant a tree for our mothers,” he remarked, highlighting the symbolism of honouring and respecting the motherland through such acts.

The Chief Minister also shared moments from the event on his X (formerly Twitter) account, expressing his enthusiasm for the initiative. “At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I participated in a tree-for-mother programme organised by Patishan Seva Trust at Raikala and planted saplings. #EkPedMaaKeNaam,” he posted, along with images from the event.

The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign was launched by Prime Minister Modi on June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day, as a call to action for environmental preservation through tree plantation. The initiative has since garnered widespread support across the country.

In addition to his involvement in the tree-planting drive, CM Majhi took the opportunity to visit several Durga Puja pandals in Keonjhar, immersing himself in the festive spirit while encouraging environmental awareness through his actions.
