Saptak Dutta wins the Inspirational Author and Philanthropist Award 2024
We are so glad to present Author Saptak Dutta with The Inspiring Author and Philanthropist Award from BB News. Your work in writing specially your poems in newsletters and your generosity in helping children is something that has always caught our attention and is always appreciable. We are so glad to introduce you to our readers so that they get to know about your journey
Q1) How did you get inspired to start writing first and tell us about your book “ The Unsent Letters to the Sky”.
Ans. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I was able to spare a lot of time for myself to introspect. I have been an avid reader since childhood, so I followed the passion of reading more deeply back in the lockdown period. I came across a book “Chasing Myself” by social media celebrity Caroline White. That book, I must say opened up a whole new vista before me leading to penning down some of my thoughts on paper – Poetries. Then I participated in an online writing challenge by BookLeaf Publication and kept writing everyday without a break. Upon completion, they came up with a proposal to publish my work as a little poetry book – thus happened “Unsent Letters to the Sky”.

Q2) Do you have any favourite author? Which composition of your Favourite Author do you like?
Ans. Well, this is a tricky question for me because a lot of faces start circulating over my head while choosing my favourite author. But if I had to be that precise in selecting only one, I would mention Steven Galloway. His world-famous work in “The Cellist of Sarajevo” will live in my heart till my dying day. It is THAT amazing!
Q3) Do you feel as an Author writing helps in expressing suppressed feelings ?
Ans. Sure. Writing is possibly the best kind of mediation one can practise. You can give your thoughts and feelings a shape that you like, a name that you want, colours that you dream of. Your writing is indeed the mental projection of your psychological self. It’s a release that many people spend a fortune to find.
Q4)You have also been a philanthropist and have distributed clothes , educational kits to children from time to time. What inspired you to do these kind of work?
Ans. My parents and how they have brought me up. I think it’s in the genes. We can’t just take and take and take and never think to give something in return to the society we are all parts of. That is what I was taught and that is what I follow till date. I discover true happiness in giving back to the source, to the people in need. I guess it’s called being human.
Q5) If you have to give a message to the Youth about Social welfare and how they can be a part of it , what would your advise be ?
Ans. I would say, just look out of your window and you’ll see so many things to do, so many people are in dire need of help, so many animals without shelter – just start where you can’t turn and walk away anymore. Just begin there. Even if you help one man, or one child, or just one stray dog – it literally counts because change always begins from one. Do one good selfless act, take one chance at saving someone – someday you might end up saving the world – someone’s world. And yours too in the process!
Q6) Finally please tell us your thoughts on winning the award
Ans. Oh, I am very delightful as I have never imagined people are going to like my little book this much that I would be given such a prestigious award. Thank you everyone who have loved or connected with my words. Thank you everyone who inspired me all along. Thank you, Team BB News for the opportunity to get featured online. And to conclude, thanks to my amazing dad who is no more with us, still his blessings work every time for me.
