Meeting the Holi Festival Maniacs!

By Abhishek Haridasan

There are regular festival celebrators and then there are maniacs who go many steps ahead to ensure they go berserk during Holi!

I’m not talking about the ones who smear colour powder the moment someone comes across them and leaves others in a spiteful condition.

These are individuals who fall in love with the festival, understand the intent behind it, and spring up surprises considering the advent of spring.

Welcoming spring begins with a prayer to Lord Vishnu, a respectful bow to Krishna Radha, and a complete blending of divinity for the festival that continues for many days. Remember, there’s also Vasant Panchami a few weeks later, so keep those organic colours handy!

These maniacs (read: Holi lovers) don’t let an inch go past because Holi isn’t for the faint-hearted. Heavy milk-based drinks, a lot of water mixed with colours and water balloons and the ammo of old clothes, since things can go a bit out of control!

However, the idea of these maniacs is to celebrate this festival with true divinity and the actual purpose of bringing people closer. Folding hands to share a namaste, sharing sweets and savouries and gorging on food that’s worthy of kings and queens.

Ok, maniacs! Get ready, the Holy day called Holi is around the corner. Let’s have some real fun, and celebrate responsibly!
