The Basics of Journalism

Every journalist needs to stay up to date, always. Journalism refers to the profession where people present a particular piece of news in a specific manner, catering to the needs of that specific piece of news. Staying informed about the current affairs is extremely crucial. It is imperative for a journalist to know what is going on around the world. Following the news, checking headlines daily, and checking trends on social media particularly contributes a lot in case of journalism. Journalism primarily involves three skill sets- writing, interviewing people and photography. Writing, reading interviews and long stories and clicking pictures oftentimes helps with journalistic scenarios.
Journalism entails ten principles, which constitute the fundamental base of the profession itself. There are certain principles related to gathering sources too. Principle refers to a fundamental truth, which forms the very base of the news. The two primary principles of journalism include verification, and objectivity. These sources come in handy when journalists gather information. The next four principles are as stated below – Originality, Completeness, Transparency and Fairness. On the contrary, the above listed principles contribute largely to the telling of journalistic stories. Digital journalism offers the best of all the mediums .
