Colours of life – An exclusive writeup by Riddhima Sen
Life is a painting, captured perfectly in a freeze frame. The paintings may range directly from humorous to satirical to tragic paintings, of any kind and genre. Our lifespan is like a magnanimous canvas, which is completely blank, raw and left empty. Whether we choose to fill it with silvery mountains, bluish- grey gloomy monsoon days or red days filled with pain, suffering or blood. There have been numerous paintings throughout the decades, starting from Monalisa by Vinci to the Girl in the Pearl Earring, by Johannes Vermeer. Nevertheless, it can be said that infact there are thousands of similarities between life and paintings.
There is a painting which depicts a child marriage, between a young girl and an old man. The expression on the bride’s novice face clearly depicts her discomfort and pain at being wedded off absolutely forcefully. However, the people surrounding her are extremely oblivious to her pain and anxious expressions. Paintings only have the magic to convey human emotions at its very very best, again. Sometimes , words and salty water falls short to explore the depths of some great emotions , and covered traumatic experiences , accompanied by deplorative eyes and screaming souls .
