A Healthcare System that Saves Millions, and Treats Everyone Responsibly! by Abhishek Haridasan
Healthcare facilities at essential and accessible touchpoints in India are the answer to many questions that probe the nation.
Healthcare facilities with modern equipment and trained practitioners across the spectrum of medical science specialisation are a boon for a resource-rich country like India.
Yet, why do we lag in providing first responder care, amenities for care and support for the ageing population?
It’s not because the Government hasn’t invested in its people. A program like Ayush Bharat ensures everyone, from across the strata of life and livelihoods, has insurance to tend to their medical needs. Prime Minister Modi’s vision of medical facilities for every Indian makes us realise the importance of having support at the time of need.
What are the impending challenges and solutions?
1. Trust in the medical fraternity: Everyone who makes the medical system run is looked at with cynicism and angst. Situations and fringe elements exist that destroy the patient-doctor bond; however, times have shown that this can get better, too. Developing trust on both sides is essential.
2. Accessible medical facilities: Medical institutions and government bodies must strategise on how medical support can be extended with ease across the top cities and the remotest parts of the country. Come what may, any ailment must find a medical practitioner who can treat it without any compromise.
3. Treating life with respect: For medical facilities to be used appropriately, people must respect their lives, too. Special care must be taken to ensure first aid kits, essential medical assistance and situational knowledge about medical ailments are given to regular people. Let’s not forget, lives can be saved if people have a sound understanding of how their body functions and acting in a matter of seconds, instead of minutes, can be crucial in getting people timely. Also, services like 10-min ambulances, making healthy eating choices and mental wellness conversations are drivers in creating a medical ecosystem that thrives on responsible citizens and empowered medical practitioners.
While it’s easy to talk about medical inadequacy in a large country like ours, we must be part of the steps that make medical efficiency a visible reality.
Small steps each day in becoming improved and empowered individuals will assist the medical teams and frontline workers in providing us the right treatment and support.
We create the future by pledging to act responsibly and building an ecosystem where the government and medical system work in unison.
A healthy nation with an amazing and effective medical system is possible. Let’s believe and create a sustainable future for all!
We will do it! We will create an Ayushmaan and Kirtimaan Bharat. Together, we rise, empower and grow!
