With a deep passion for learning, teaching, and storytelling, Kavitha brings authenticity and warmth to her writing.

Beyond the pages, she is a curious soul who finds joy in exploring new places, indulging in the magic of books, and sharing knowledge. As she steps into the literary spotlight, we sit down with Kavitha to explore her journey as a writer, her inspirations, and what lies ahead in her creative path.

  1. What inspired you to write The Day She Met Him, and how did the story evolve in your mind?
The idea came from a single thought: What if two very different people were suddenly bound together by an impulsive, life-altering decision? That thought stayed with me, and from it, Vidya and Vijay’s journey began to take shape. I kept returning to the image of a young woman—heartbroken, betrayed, and emotionally adrift. Her confusion and vulnerability felt so vivid that I knew I had to explore her story. As I wrote, the narrative naturally evolved into one about emotional healing and quiet transformation. I was drawn to the idea that love doesn’t always arrive with grand gestures—it can grow slowly, in the most unexpected places, between people who are learning to trust again.
  2. What challenges did you face while writing and publishing your first book, and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges was self-doubt. I often questioned whether the story was worth telling—whether it would resonate with anyone beyond myself. The Day She Met Him began as a deeply personal project, a way for me to grow and express something meaningful. What helped me push through was the encouragement I received from close family and early readers of the draft. Their belief gave me the courage to explore publishing options.
  3. How does your love for reading and travelling influence your writing style and themes?
Reading has taught me to appreciate the nuances of character development and the beauty of different narrative styles. Traveling, on the other hand, offers me perspective – diverse people, new settings, observing unfamiliar cultures has expanded my emotional vocabulary. It’s helped me write with more empathy and authenticity.

Many quiet moments in my book – like a shared glances, internal conflicts, or reflective pauses – are influenced by things I’ve seen or felt while interacting with people, reading and travelling.

  1. As someone who enjoys both learning and teaching, do these experiences shape your storytelling or character development in any way?
Yes, Teaching teaches you patience, which is essential in writing. It also sharpens your ability to listen, observe, and empathize. It helps in creating believable characters. When you teach, you’re not just sharing knowledge, you’re constantly learning as well. Learning, on the other hand, keeps my curiosity alive. It pushes me to explore new ideas, human interactions and many more. All of which enrich my writing.
  2. Who are some of your literary inspirations or favorite authors, and how have they influenced your work?
Some of my all time favorite authors are Jane Austen, J.K Rowling and Agatha Christie. Jane Austen’s writing inspires me to build subtle characters, add wit, emotion and critique into everyday social interactions. J.K. Rowling inspires me to build a world. Her characters feel real because they grow, struggle and evolve. I love the elegance of a well-crafted plot in Agatha Christie’s work. The way she reveals character through mystery has helped me think about how to keep readers engaged.
  3. What advice would you give to aspiring authors who are hesitant to publish their first book?
Don’t wait for that perfect idea or a sentence – just start writing. The first draft is always messy. Your voice will emerge the more you write.
