The Mango Leaves

It was a sunny morning of May . Sushila was sitting on a couch in the living room . Her hand had a cup of steaming warm coffee in it . Her deep pink t shirt was lit up  in the  radiant sunlight, and the pattern of the face of Frida Kahlo was prominent . Her flat was located in the south of Kolkata.  She was a freelancer, in her early twenties . Her parents stayed in her ancestral mansion at Purulia . She had a long day ahead of her .

After finishing her cup of coffee, she headed towards the master bedroom around 7 o clock . She sat on the attached chair , and started working on her daily projects . As soon as she opened her dell laptop , a childhood picture of hers flashed before her eyes . She was with her brother, and parents in the mango garden of their ancestral mansion .

It was her laptop background. She reminisced her childhood days , as soon as she saw the photo .She was around twelve years of age back then , her brother was eleven years old . She was clad in a blue and white polka frock . She was studying in a local school back then, along with her brother.

It was about the summer in 1960s , when it was an evening of a thunderstorm . The siblings were playing in the mango garden . The younger sibling found a little bird near the trunk of the old mango tree. The siblings tended to the little bird , and then let it fly . As she looked out of the window, she saw a mango tree in the apartment park . It seemed as if her childhood memories were still wth her, a tear fell off her eye.

She was receiving a call from her brother, Anil , who was a doctor in US . She received the call , and the siblings talked about the old mango leaves, which they often used to collect .
