Amar Chitra Katha by Riddhima Sen

Amar Chitra Katha is more than a mere comic. It represents the culture of India aesthetically, be it the traditional costumes or the mythological tales being represented. The body of Indian mythology had hardly been explored by any other comic series. We had superheroes, though. The Indrajaal comics drew inspiration from superheroes like Superman or Batman. Anant Pai’s initiative to introduce the Indian mythology to the younger generation was truly unique. It proved to be a legacy later on. Generations of younger people grew up reading the comics. The implementation of bright colours in the comic series and the interesting panels make it attractive for young people. It was successful in attracting the attention of the target audience. It has raised generations of Indians who grew up absolutely loving their culture. This replaced the craze for the versions of Superman comic which was initially available in India. We got our own superheroes – Krishna, Rama and Kannagi. The magical tale of Usha and Anirudh gets presented beautifully in the comic.
