📚 Stories from Puranas – Part 3: The Great Ladies by Kaushal Kishore

I picked up Stories from Puranas – Part 3: The Great Ladies without having much background in the Puranas or ancient scriptures. Honestly, I was a bit unsure if I would be able to understand it, but the book surprised me in a very good way.

What I really appreciated was how simple and clear the language is. The author, Kaushal Kishore, doesn’t make things complicated. The sentences are short, and the explanations are easy to follow. Even when he talks about Vedas and Upanishads, it never feels overwhelming. It feels like someone is patiently explaining things to you.

The most interesting part for me was learning about the role of women in ancient Indian texts. I had always heard mixed opinions about this topic, but this book presents a very different perspective. Through various stories and references, it shows women as knowledgeable, respected, and spiritually powerful. That was something new for me.

I also liked how the book is structured. The headings and small sections make it easy to read even if you don’t want to sit for long hours. You can read one story at a time and still feel like you learned something meaningful.

At the same time, the book clearly presents the author’s strong point of view, especially when talking about history and interpretations. As a reader, I felt it’s important to keep an open mind and understand that this is one perspective among many.

Overall, this book made me curious to learn more about Indian scriptures. It didn’t feel like a heavy religious text but more like a guide that introduces you to ideas in a simple and engaging way.

If you are someone like me, who doesn’t have much knowledge about the Puranas but wants to understand them in an easy and approachable way, this book is definitely worth reading.
