The Colours of Holi
By Author Abhishek Haridasan
If your life has colour and the Vibgyor is your defining colour stream, welcome to the festival of Holi and everything that it signifies!
Between coloured water balloons, new clothes and umpteen sweet treats, Holi signifies what a range of colours can do to our lives. It blends the tradition of Holika Dahan, promotes the beginning of new seasons, brings families together and is a true example of how festivals of India have a calming effect on everyone.
The celebrations begin a month in advance, as the elderly begin their purchase list to make puris, aloo ki sabzi, jalebis, gujiyas, and homemade savouries. With recipes passed down from generation, everything needs to be perfect, because passing day brings the excitement closer.
The white kurta pyjamas, the beautifully bordered salwar sets and a tumbler of saffron milk for everyone!
On the day of Holi, the customary pooja, followed by some donations to the needy and an evening filled with fun and environment-friendly colors awaits everyone. Join the festivities and let’s celebrate responsibly!
