India–Armenia Defence Partnership Gets a Major Push
India and Armenia Deepen Defence Ties, Sign MoU to Expand Military Technology and Joint Innovation
India and Armenia have moved to strengthen their growing strategic and defence relationship following a two-day visit by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh to Armenia. The two countries have agreed to expand cooperation in defence technology, military training, research and development, innovation and technical collaboration.
The visit comes as India’s defence partnership with Armenia continues to expand. India has become an important defence supplier to Armenia, with cooperation extending to systems and technologies including Akash, Pinaka, ATAGS and Swathi. The latest discussions are aimed at taking the relationship beyond equipment sales towards joint development, production, research and innovation.
The agreement is significant for India’s broader defence-export and Make in India strategy, as New Delhi seeks to build long-term international partnerships around Indian defence technology rather than simply exporting finished equipment.
