Man in Assam sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping a young girl
When the offender committed the act, the young girl was playing with her pals in the Kokrajhar district of Assam, not far from her home.A 30-year severe jail sentence has been imposed on a person who was detained in 2018 on suspicion of raping a 12-year-old girl by a local court in Kokrajhar district, Assam.The case was heard on Saturday and he was found guilty by the Kokrajhar district’s court of extra sessions judge/special judge. Joydev Koch, the special judge, heard testimony from witnesses and reviewed police evidence before finding the guy guilty.
According to police records, the individual, named as Habibor Rahman, was taken into custody by the police in August 2018 after a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was filed at the Bagribari Police Station in the Kokrajhar district. The police have stated that the alleged incident took place on August 2, 2018. The girl’s father stated that when Habibor Rahman committed the crime, she was twelve years old and playing with her friends in a neighbourhood close to her home.
“The accused fled, but the girl’s friends alerted her relatives, who came to her aid. Afterwards, he was taken into custody and imprisoned. Later on, he requested bail, but the court denied it, according to an official. The girl’s and other witnesses’ statements were later recorded by the police. According to officials, the girl underwent required medical checks, and all of the reports were turned in to the court.
